How to organize a PDF

  1. Add your PDF. Drop it on the workbench or choose it from your device. Each page appears as a card.
  2. Arrange the pages. Drag cards to reorder them (on a phone, drag by the dotted handle). Use the arrow buttons on each card to rotate it, or the bin to delete it.
  3. Work on several pages at once. Click cards to select them, or type a range such as 1-3, 8. The selection bar can rotate, duplicate, delete or move them together.
  4. Add pages from other PDFs. Use Add PDF: the new pages go after your selection, or at the end.
  5. Download. You get a new file named like report-organized.pdf. Your original file is not changed.

Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF Tinker reads your files with your browser’s file API and edits them with JavaScript running in this tab. Your files are never sent to a server, so they never leave your device. The tools keep working if you go offline after the page has finished loading.

Can I combine pages from different PDFs?

Yes. Use Add PDF or drop another file onto the workbench. New pages go after the selected pages, or at the end when nothing is selected. Each file gets a coloured tag so you can tell the pages apart.

What happens to links, bookmarks and form fields?

Page content, images, comments and links between pages you keep are preserved. Links that point to pages you removed are dropped. The bookmark outline is not carried over to the new file, and fillable form fields may stop being fillable.

Why can’t I open a password-protected PDF?

Editing is done with pdf-lib, which cannot decrypt encrypted PDFs. Open the file in a PDF reader with its password, save or print an unprotected copy, and use that copy here.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit. Everything happens in your browser’s memory, so very large files can be slow or fail on phones and low-memory computers. PDF Tinker warns you when a file is over 100 MB.

Does it cost anything?

No. Every tool is free to use, with no account, no added watermark and no daily limit.
